Yard Sale Stuff

Found these two old guns at a yardsale Saturday for a monster price of $30.00 bucks a piece. One is a double barrel 20 gauge shotgun and the other appears to be 69 calibre smooth bore percussion cap rifle that has been chopped down to hunt with. My guess it was made sometime between 1830 and 1860. Both are in poor shape but will make cool wall decorations in my cabin when it gets built.....someday.

Any ideas on their origins?

Border Bandits

INVASION USA
Armed standoff on Rio Grande Uniformed Mexicans with guns, bulldozer
seize drug-bust truck from Border Patrol

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2005 WorldNetDaily.com

U.S. Border Patrol agents were backed down this week by armed men, dressed in what appeared to be Mexican military uniforms and carrying military weapons, who seized a captured dump truck filled with marijuana from the U.S. agents and dragged it across the border into Mexico with a bulldozer.

The border incident occurred Thursday evening when Border Patrol agents attempted to pull over a dump truck on Interstate 10 in Hudspeth County, Texas. The driver fled from the agents, exiting the freeway and driving toward the Rio Grande which runs within 2 miles of the interstate in this portion of West Texas.

The rest is HERE. In the spirit of Pancho Villa the erasure of our border continues. It is time to build that fence...........I think an air strike would have been an appropriate response

Tucson Weekly offers this chilling account of destruction of pristene American property along the border. Tucson Weekly is not exactly a rightwing fishwrap either.

Troop Support PSA

I have not blogged much lately as I have not wanted to post about about many of the topics parroted on so many of the blogs. I find most of the news depressing and tedious. However I would like to take a moment to ask all of you to get involved and really support the troops.

My wife and kids and I have used Books For Soldiers for several years now. If you are not sure where or how to help it is a great place to start. For a comprehensive place, try Soldiers Angels as well.

Imagine if all those detractors and so called "We support the troops just not the War" people really did support the troops? What a great thing that would be.

I was going through our files and just to show you what one family can do, here are a few stats about the care packages my family has sent so far:

ARMY..........29
MARINES......7
AIR FORCE...2

AFGHANISTAN..........6
KOSOVO..................2
IRAQ......................30

I am not asking for credit or applause. I just want to do what I can to bring a little of America and home to those who watch our back. There is a dangerous and evil trend building by those who put party and politics ahead of country. We must show those in uniform that we are behind them 100% and for the entire duration of their service.

Walmart Wars

NEWS MAX has an article written by Dave Eberhart that starts out:

WAL MART FIGHTS BACK!

Hiring high-powered former presidential advisers and setting up a public relations "war room," embattled Wal-Mart has gone on the offensive against a new documentary that unabashedly seeks to bring the retail giant to its knees.

"Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price" debuted this month in theaters across America. The film portrays Wal-Mart destroying mom-and-pop businesses, paying such low wages that many employees rely on public assistance, and discriminating against its female workers.

Later in the article are these tidbits:

WAL-MART Drives Down Retail Wages $3 BILLION Every Year

ALABAMA: 3,864 Children of WAL-MART Employees are Enrolled in Medicaid

ARKANSAS: 3,971 WAL-MART Workers on Public Assistance

WAL-MART Costs Taxpayers $1,557,000,000 to Support its Employees

WAL-MART Currently Faces Lawsuits in Thirty-One States for Wage and Hour Abuses
Wal-Mart PR warriors address each and every charge, and offer a few factoids to support their own claims, including:

Wal-Mart saved each American household an average of $2,329 last year, according to an independent study by the economic research firm Global Insight. That's almost half the average tuition at a public four-year university.

Wal-Mart had a net positive impact in the form of a .9 percent increase in real wages.

The retail chain was responsible for the creation of 210,000 jobs last year, accounting for 10 percent of the national total.

A paper co-authored by a researcher from the U.S. Department of Agriculture found that food prices at Wal-Mart are up to 48 percent less than prices in supermarkets and other conventional retail outlets.

The presence of a Wal-Mart increases local commercial property tax collections by between $350,000 and about $1.3 million. Also, Wal-Mart collected more than $1.2 billion in state and local sales taxes for communities last year.

In January 2006, Wal-Mart will provide medical insurance to more than 1 million people, with coverage available for as little as $11 per month for individuals and 30 cents a day for children.

In the fiscal year ending in January 2005, Wal-Mart spent approximately $4.2 billion on benefits, including medical and dental insurance, profit sharing, stock purchases and 401(k) plans.

In that fiscal year, cash donations to charities through Wal-Mart Stores and the Wal-Mart & SAM'S CLUB Foundation exceeded $170 million, making Wal-Mart the largest corporate giver in the U.S.

Wal-Mart purchases goods from more than 61,000 U.S. suppliers and supports more than 3 million supplier jobs.

Now I am not a Walmart Fan by any means and I do not shop there. I read Sam Walton by Vance H Trimble and behind the flag waving and apple pie, is a history of predatory pricing and lowball tactics to crush competitors and suppliers alike. I applaud and appreciate their success, but as a small businessman I have felt the sting of the "Big Boys" first hand. Success also breeds detractors and critics that have a multitude of reasons and motives to attack large corporations.

Early this week here in Tucson we started getting bombarded with radio ads from Walmart Watch with a savy attack on Walmart with a christmas theme that is pretty effective. We have been hit with these adds day and night and that ain't cheap. Well the old saying "Follow the Money" is usually the best way to see what the real agenda is. Take a gander at the Walmart Watch Partners list and you will find some pretty powerful organizations. One cannot help but take note of the irony involved with so many of these very same organizations that have a nefarious history themselves.

Labor Unions and anti-business groups lead the way. Some heavy hitters that have been after Walmart for their non-union stance. I never like false advertising and I feel the commercials are misleading and mask who is really behind the latest attempt to bring the retail giant to its knees. They lament the low wages and lack of health insurance offered by Walmart to it employees but fail to mention the fact that they hire people who APPLY there. There is no draft and no one is sentenced to a job there.

I choose not to shop there because I do not like their stores. I do however support Walmart's right to operate and prosper in a capitalist society and to grow as big and rich as they can. So long as they do so legally I have no issue with their business. I might be inclined to support them a little more now that I know who and what is after them.

THIS MIGHT BE THE WAY TO DO IT

You Do The Math

DSC00866.JPG

I went to the NASCAR Race at PIR yesterday and it was fun. However there is one issue that I would like to address and that has to do with some basic math. You see the average Nascar fans enjoys all the trappings of a blue collar existence. Pork rinds and beer have a tendency to increase the LAP (Lateral Area Periphery).

The LAP of the average NASCAR fan does not quite fit into the FAT (Financially Allocated Territory) that white collar engineers have allowed for when designing the stands that Rednecks reside in. Which brings us to the ASS (American Seat Size) conundrum. The FAT is about 14 inches and the ASS is about 18 inches.

Mathematically speaking you get:

FAT+ASS=FATASS which equates to -4 inches per seat. Now that does not sound too bad until you add 140,000 FATASSes and you get about a 560,000 inch shortage of seat. That is about 46,000 linear feet of bleachers that just ain't there!

You can pick your friends, but racefans are like relatives. Some times the gene pool is closer to a wading pool. The ones that aren't wearing shirts are the ones that really need them. That mixture of beer and sweat, nachos and hotdogs, and hillbillys with Tattoos. All these splendid Americans sitting cheek to cheek enjoying the fastest growing sport in the country. I like hot and sweaty cheek to cheek activity most of the time, just not with people I never met before. A little more Daisy and less Bo and Luke and I would have been fine.

Veterans Day

vet2.bmp

Do You Know This Man?

I do not know this man. I found his picture when looking for material for this post. Funny thing is I know all about him. He is an American veteran. This man knows all about courage and sacrifice. Proud yet humble, he put it all on the line and was willing to pay the ultimate price for the freedoms that you and I enjoy today.

Volunteer or drafted bears no relevance to the fact that he answered his call to duty. He and the thousands before him and after him are why America was and is still the greatest nation on the earth. American servicemen have a long and proud history of giving so much for so many and have done so willingly and at great personal cost.

To this man that I do not know I say thank you. Thank you to you and all your brethren in service to our country. Happy Veterans day! That includes you too Dad.

Military Humor

Three men are sitting stiffly side by side on a long commercial flight. After they're airborne and the plane has leveled off, the man in the window seat abruptly says, distinctly and confidently, in a loud voice,

"Admiral, United States Navy, retired. Married, two sons, both surgeons."

After a few minutes the man in the aisle seat states through a tight lipped smile,

"Admiral, United States Coast Guard, retired. Married, two sons, both judges."

After some thought, the fellow in the center seat decides to introduce himself.

With a twinkle in his eye he proclaims, "Master Chief, United States Navy, retired. Never married, two sons -- both Admirals.

During training exercises, the lieutenant who was driving down a muddy back road encountered another car stuck in the mud with a red-faced colonel at the wheel.

"Your jeep! stuck, sir?" asked the lieutenant as he pulled alongside.
"Nope," replied the colonel, coming over and handing him the keys,
"Yours is."

-----------------------------------------------

Having just moved into his new office, a pompous, new colonel was sitting at his desk when an airman knocked on the door.

Conscious of his new position, the colonel quickly picked up the phone, told the airman to enter, then said into the phone, "Yes, General, I'll be seeing him this afternoon and I'll pass along your message. In the meantime, thank you for your good wishes, Sir."

Feeling as though he had sufficiently impressed the young enlisted man, he asked, "What do you want?" "Nothing important, sir," the airman replied, "I'm just here to hook up your telephone."

-----------------------------------------------

Officer: "Soldier, do you have change for a dollar?"

Soldier: "Sure, buddy."

Officer:! "That's no way to address an officer! Now let's try it again! Do you have change for a dollar?"

Soldier: "No, SIR!"

Q: How do you know if there is a fighter pilot at your party?

A: He'll tell you.

Q: What's the difference between God and fighter pilots?

A: God doesn't think he's a fighter pilot.

Q: What's the difference between a fighter pilot and a jet engine?

A: The jet engine stops whining when the plane shuts down.

An Air Force Chief Master Sergeant and a General were sitting in the barbershop.

They were both just getting finished with their shaves, when the barbers reached for some after-shave to slap on their faces.

The General shouted, "Hey, don't put that stuff on me! My wife will think I've been in a whorehouse!"

The Chief turned to his barber and said, "Go ahead and put it on me. My wife doesn't know what the inside of a whorehouse smells like."

-----------------------------------------------

"Well," snarled the tough old Navy Chief to the bewildered seaman, "I suppose after you get discharged from the Navy, you'll just be waiting for me to die so you can come and piss on my grave."

Not me, Chief!" the Seaman replied. "Once I get out of the Navy, I'm never going to stand in line again!"

The elderly American gentleman arrived in Paris by plane. At French Customs he fumbled for his passport.

"You 'ave been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked sarcastically.

The old gent admitted that he had been to France previously.

"Zen, you should know enough to 'ave your passport ready for inspection."

The American s! aid, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it."

"Impossible. You Americans alwayz 'ave to show your passports on arrival in France!"

The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, "Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in'44, I couldn't find any Frenchmen to show it to."

Who Ya Gonna Call?

The Police State Or The State Of The Police

I had an interesting conversation with a customer yesterday. They were building a storage room on the side of their building. It was to put their industrial air compressor inside. You see the last one they had was stolen a couple of weeks ago. This is no portable compressor it was a 120 gallon, three phase, five horsepower unit that weighed about 350 lbs.

Who the hell would or could steal one that big?

Well come to find out that a lady saw them do it. She called THESE GUYS and they could care less. She called 911 and the conversation went something like this:

Lady in the Apt.

Hello 911? Yes there seems to be three young men in a white Chevy S-10 pickup stealing a large air compressor from XXXXX Automotive at XXXX E. 22nd st.

911 Operator

OK. Hold on

Tucson Police Department

Can I help you?

Lady in the Apt.

Yes there seems to be three young men in a white Chevy S-10 pickup stealing a large air compressor from XXXXX Automotive at XXXX E. 22nd st.

TPD

Ok Thank you.

Twenty Minutes later.............

Lady in Apt.

Hello 911? Yes I called earlier about a burglary in progess and now they have the air compressor loaded and are getting ready to leave.........

911 Operator

Ok Hold on

TPD

Hello?

Lady in Apt.

Yes I called earlier about a burglary in progess and now they have the air compressor loaded and are getting ready to leave.........Wait they are leaving and heading down XXXX street, no wait they have turned onto XXXXXX street . Hurry!

TPD

Ok Thank you.

The next morning............

TPD

Here is a police report for your insurance agent and a copy of the complaint.

Mr. Customer

Why didn't you come when they were stealing it?

TPD

We prefer not to have a face-to-face encounter that might result in an armed confrontation.

WTF?.............WTF?

Well ladies and gentlemen, I guess we are on our own. It is no wonder we are at the top of the list in crime stats here in the US. Unbelieveable! I had a similar scenario near my home when crackheads moved in under a bridge near my place. Three phonecalls and 25 days later I was finally told that they would not remove them because they had been sued so many times by homeless advocates that they would not touch them. I was told in an off hand way that I should do " Whatever I had to do" to remove them myself. No shit and not funny. This is not an actual transcript of the conversations but you get the idea.

The Police are too busy setting up traffic cameras to bust us for running red lights than going after the scumbags that might not go quietly. We are on are own............

I am not a Kooky conspiracy theory guy, but many similarities exist between these historically based empires of the past. The Muslims in Europe and the Mexicans in the US that seek to regain territory lost and establish a new civilization based on cultural and religious principles. They both are exclusionary and revolutionary in the sense that they seek to remove and replace the current citizens.

Some of the links were not written about the current unrest in France or the invasion of illegal aliens into the US. rather about stated goals and observations about Europe and America in general. The French and American immigration and naturalization policies of the past several decades have failed precisely because they both contain good intentions gone bad.

I know that the above statements are simplistic in nature and may be a stretch, however the fact remains that immigrants in Europe and the US. no longer feel the need to adopt and accept their new countries with a desire to become citizens and members of the community. They seek to establish a home-away-from-home and retain all of the cultural and religious components. We must adapt and accept them on their terms or be labeled as racist and xenophobic.

Junkyard Wars

Army mechanics have jury-rigged a minesweeper in Afghanistan, where roadside bombs have killed five recently.

Arizona Sergeant makes McGiver proud

QALAT, AFGHANISTAN

"The latest thing to come out of the motor pool here at Qalat Forward Operating Base isn't pretty, and it isn't all that easy to steer. But it might just save some lives.
It's a minesweeper that rides out front of a Humvee, designed to detect land mines or roadside bombs by setting them off.

"Hopefully, it will blow up the mines and save the lives of the men inside the Humvee," says Sgt. Byron Begay, a motor pool mechanic from Superior, Ariz.

The minesweeper, due to make its battlefield debut this month, has a distinctly Frankensteinish look to it - iron welded to iron, a steering column, and a Humvee-length space of nothingness, where an exploding roadside bomb will be unable to do harm. It's the type of battlefield ingenuity that the Pentagon could draw upon as it tasks a high-level general to develop countermeasures to roadside bombs, or improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The Qalat minesweeper was cobbled together from parts scavenged from broken-down Humvees. And that, unfortunately, is something the Army has a lot of these days."

Tit For Tat For Tot

Well, I am on my second One of these and I feel the necessity to pontificate on this morsel of madness and I hope all of you realize how close we as Americans are to this type of anarchy. It is coming and sooner than you think. The Muslims in France are very similar to the Mexicans here in the US. They no longer want to assimilate into our culture. They want to speak their own language, with their own culture and live by their terms here. They refuse to embrace the American way of life and demand that we accept them as they are. The French connection is not that abstract. We Americans have taken the politically correct path to our own demise. We no longer demand that you take our culture with all our short comings and accept it as your own. You can come here and live the life like your same flea bitten shithole and demand we accept it.

France is burning and they are powerless to stop it. The PC we are the world mentality has cost them everything. We are on the edge of history and America can either live free or die. Will we allow immigrants to control our destiny? This is not some Fascist rant. I live on the front lines of illegal immigration and we are losing.

Anyway I am writing to pimp the TOT (Target On Tour) that is currently here it was here after it was here and it originally came from here 6000 miles of 2nd Amendment rights that represent the protection from the Euro nightmare that is taking place. It is our future.........You decide.

In A Nutshell

When I read opinions like this that are clear and concise and from a soldiers perspective, I know that we are in good hands indeed:

Saddam loved Saddam. He had statues and pictures of himself everywhere. No one could say Saddam was a bad man without facing extreme punishment, torture, or death. I met a man who casually suggested that "Saddam's chair has wobbly legs" when a friend asked him what he thought Iraq's future would be like. That man was sent to prison for two years for his comment.

Families were afraid to talk about Saddam in their own homes for fear that other family members would inform to the Mukhabbarat (intelligence service) about their comments and have them thrown in jail, or worse. If the Mukhabbarat caught wind of any dissent, they would torture, rape, and kill whole neighborhoods until someone confessed.

Is Paris Burning?

Eight Day Ramadan Celebration In Paris Continues

r23701514.jpg

The French members of the Religion of Peace celebrate Ramadan by demonstrating more tolerance and diversity HERE. In an effort to show the Americans that the poor, poor immigrants, and poor Muslim immigrants in France can be as progressive as the LA rioters, they also burn down their own neighborhoods. One RoP member was quoted as saying "We too can shit where we sleep!" (in French of course). Those clever imported Froggies!

"Please behave Please!"

Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin stated emphatically "I will not accept organized gangs making the law in some neighborhoods. I will not accept having crime networks and drug trafficking profiting from disorder." Then added "Well I guess we will, unless the UN steps in and asks the rioters to stop with a firm but polite resolution"
