Off the Cuff

Is it just me or is America seem to be slowly losing it greatness. I don't know how much longer I can blog in this current climate. I love information and I want to know about what is going on all over the world and the US but I am fed up with all the Bullshit all the time. Doesn't character matter anymore?

I own a small business and have been through good times and bad, triumph and tragedy. For seventeen years I have worked my version of the American dream. I have achieved a modicum of success and look forward to the day when I can retire and enjoy it.............Will that day ever come?

I have managed to survive in a very competitive industry full of sharks and snakes. The small are eaten by the large and the large scorch the earth. I have kept in the game through a simple strategy. Character. Character does matter and honesty and integrity will prevail over deception and treachery.

I am currently reading 1776 by David Mc Cullough. it is a book that I highly reccommend. It is about the fathers of our country and how they put everything on the line, everything. The determination and dedication to a cause that gave birth to the greatest nation in history. These men were not the downtrodden with nothing to lose, they we the wealthy and educated landowners with everything to lose. Where are those type of men now?

I look at my father in the twilight of his life. A member of the Greatest generation, that gave their all to make the world safe and built a nation that had no rival by hardwork, honesty, and integrity. They are dying all around us with very few replacements. Today we have the whats in it for me generation.

We live in a country that has removed God from our schools, our culture, and our lives. We have replaced the Ten Commandments with the an anything-goes attitude as long as it isn't Christian. I am not a particularly pious man but I live by the Ten Commandments and it seems we would do well by them. The void is not being filled with those things that made us great.

I see the deplorable behavior of the leaders of the black community after Katrina. They have made a natural disaster into a race disaster. There is no responsibility and no integrity. The shocking lack of character by so many in high positions is frightening. The days of personal responsibility are over and I am not sure we can recover from this last roundhouse to the jaw of freedom. Is the cradle-to-grave goverment intervention in our lives finally here?

I watched some of the most despicable men and women in Congress shake their finger at Judge Roberts and behave in ways that would make a prostitute blush. Why do they no have a sense of country before party? Is it all that we have left is the pandering and posturing for political longevity? They make fun of his life and his dedication to family, religion, and country, how sad.

I see Cindy Sheehan transform from a grieving mother to a political instrument of the anti-American war protestors. She is now a shell of her former self that will be discarded as soon as she has lost her value as a camera whore. This generation is being lead by many from the 60's and 70's into the same abyss that so deeply wounded American sense of purpose and direction. If Mrs. Sheehan only knew how much it hurt those standing in Casey's place she would never have taken the first step on her tragic journey.

Today a judge decided that many more people must die to punish the military for behavior by a few bad individuals. The ACLU and many democratic leaders will smile with sinister satisfaction in extracting the latest pound of flesh from President Bush. The same President Bush they hold to standards they know he can not possibly hope to attain, yet gave President Clinton a pass on virtually every indescretion known to man.

Why have we lost our way? The world is evolving around us and events will dictate who will determine the future of our planet and our country and we behave like two-year-olds fighting over blocks. The Euros and the Chi-Coms relish in our struggles and the Arabs cheer at every misfortune that comes our way. We are alone in this world and we need to put America first again. The partisan bickering and fight to grab the microphone and denounce the Evil Americans has got to stop.

I can go on and on...........

When will it be in vogue again to be patriotic and proud? I know this whole post sounds childish and naive. Maybe it is because I miss the America of my youth that taught me so many good things about humanity and prospect of a bright future. I grow weary of the incessant drubbing of our country. Patton said "It appears that America will become the punching bag of the world." in 1916. I am afraid we have not learned from our own history.

I love this country with all her faults and her clay feet. The very things that make us great, also expose us to all the ills that may be our undoing. We have prevailed in the past only because our resolve was backed with the one thing that can save a nation......Character.

Around His Neck

Forget Katrina, Illegal Immigration Bush’s Albatross

Will Malven from MND

"I detest single issue voters. I have always believed that a conscientious voter should look at the broad spectrum of issues and make his decision based on which candidate best represents his world view. For me, as a conservative, this has invariably led me to vote Republican. I have not always been particularly enamored of every candidate for whom I have voted, but have on occasion been forced to hold my nose when voting for the “best fit” candidate. It is the notorious “choosing the better of two bad choices.” On occasion this has resulted in a vote based on the inherent “character” of the candidate. Can I trust him? Is he a man who will do what he says he will do? Is he a leader or a follower? Does he have vision for America or is he going to do the next expedient thing? I say all of this in preface to saying that for the sake of the survival of America, its government, its economy, it culture, and ultimately its people, I am becoming a single issue voter (well, okay I may still have some side issues, but I am becoming a predominantly single issue voter). That issue? Illegal immigration. I also state the above in preface to acknowledging that my original evaluation of President Bush may have been wrong."

This is been the major issue for many of us near the border where the impact of this Hands Off approach to the Illegal Alien invasion is taking place.

Sunday Funnies

Two boys in Boston were playing baseball when one of
them was attacked by a rabid Rottweiler. Thinking
quickly, the other boy ripped a board off of a nearby
fence, wedged it into the dog's collar and twisted it,
breaking the dog's neck.

A newspaper reporter from the Boston Herald witnessed
the incident and rushed over to interview the boy. The
reporter began entering data into his laptop,
beginning with the headline:
Brave Young Red Sox Fan Saves Friend From Jaws Of
Vicious Animal"

"But I'm not a Red Sox fan," the little hero interjected.

"Sorry" replied the reporter. "But since we're in
Boston, Mass, I just assumed you were." Hitting the
delete key, the reporter began:"John Kerry Fan Rescues
Friend From Horrific Dog Attack"

"But I'm not a Kerry fan either," the boy responds.

The reporter says, "I assumed everybody in this state
was either for the Red Sox or Kerry or Kennedy. What
team or person do you like? "

"I'm a Texas Ranger fan and I really like George W.
Bush" the boy says.

Hitting the delete key, the reporter begins again:
"Arrogant Little Conservative Bastard Kills Beloved
Family Pet"

Thanks, Don

Weather Of Mass Destruction

I was approached by a business associate today that handed me a twenty page article that explained Hurricane Katrina and Rita to his complete satisfaction. A person of above average intellect has now officially joined the Tinfoil Hat Black Helicopter crowd. As I perused the information he was insulted when I poo-poohed the scientific evidence as utter nonsense.

I learned long ago to be very careful not to argue religion or politics with customers particularly when politics is their religion. I feigned interest and asked if I could take the information for further review.

The information can be viewed here at Weather Wars

A few quotes to ponder:

"This nation has not faced an economic crisis like the one that Katrina will spark in the days and months ahead. But that is one of the reasons Katrina was absolutely guided along the path that we all watched. This path has resulted in maximum damage to the energy infrastructure, transportation infrastructure and to the psyche of those that remain susceptible to further storms this year and in the years to follow. Oh New Orleans! "

These are about creating and guiding storms:

"So with scalar interferometry, one can easily change the entire potential energy of a storm, by adding potential energy directly (and mostly for free!). The only work required is for the switching and control. This is rigorously ASYMMETRIC regauging of the potential energy of the storm, almost for free. "

"Hence it is quite readily possible – using scalar interferometry already possessed by more than 10 nations and groups – to dramatically enlarge storms and their energy (and therefore the magnitude of a hurricane), and also to use that free asymmetric regauging energy to then do real physical work (including ENORMOUS physical work) to steer, divert, and propel the storm. Speed up and slow down is also readily done. "

"This weapons platform has been operational since 1963 with weather operations running since 1976! My question now is when did the United States bring on line it's weather altering technology? HAARP being the public test bed for this technology. The big guns likely remain well hidden underground and have certainly come online without a press release.

The woodpecker grid (Google woodpecker grid) which has fantastic weather modification capabilities was turned on Bicentennial weekend July 4th 1976 and has remained on since that time. One can hear it chirping on shortwave radios in the 3 to 30 Mhz range. "

Ok everyone put on your boots because it is really starting to get deep here:

"It is my humble opinion that Katrina was, at some level, an inside job. Possibly planned and carried out by the power Elite, not necessarily the Bush Administration but certainly knowledge was held by elements within, to introduce an element of change into American society; only time will tell as to the full extent of changes that they desire. Simulations failure of the New Orleans levees a full 20 hours after holding back the waters of Katrina and well after she had moved inland... Followed by the concurrent failure of pumping stations, an impossibly large zone where any sort of communications was simply not happening, including satellite phones, leads one to question whether active jamming of a broad part of the EM spectrum was underway when local and state authorities needed to ascertain the extend of damage... and to continue the coordination of rescue and recovery efforts. There are so many other unconfirmed stories/bits of information to suggest that some present Federal assets caused more trouble than they alleviated"

These are just some examples of the Voodoo weather explanations and graphics offered in this amazing collection of Caca Del Toro. I find the concept interesting but seriously flawed and quite impossible at this time.

I find this a more plausible theory:

America's Crackwagon Bites IT

explosiondallas.gif

Possible Dallas Sports page headlines for tomorrow:

COWBOYS SNATCH DEFEAT FROM THE JAWS OF VICTORY
AMERICA'S CRACKWAGON TOKES THE TAILPIPE
TUNA FORGETS THE ALAMO
FOR SKINS IN DALLAS A MESSY SITUATION

I could go on and on

Q: What do you call a drug ring in Dallas?
A: A huddle.

Q: Four Dallas Cowboys in a car, who's driving?
A: The police.

Q: Why can't Michael Irvin get into a huddle on the field anymore?
A: It is a parole violation for him to associate with known felons.

Doctors say because of Michael Irvin's broken clavicle, it will be 6-8 weeks before he can video a team mate having sex.

I understand Chicago is trying to sign Michael Irvin. They got rid of the refrigerator, so now they want a coke machine.

The Dallas newspapers reported yesterday that Texas Stadium is going to take out the artificial turf because the Cowboys play better on "grass".

The Dallas Cowboys adopted a new "Honor System", Yes your Honor, No your Honor.

The Cowboys had a 12 and 5 season this year, 12 arrests, 5 convictions.

The Cowboys knew they had to do something for their defense, so they hired a new defensive coordinator: Johnny Cochran

2nd Amendment Target Tour

THIS EBAY AUCTION put on by Bulleye from American Drumslinger was won by yours truly.

Second Amendment Bloggers Touring Paper

IM003418.jpg

Signed By Bullsye Himself!

We want this Target to get to bloggers in every state to show our support for the 2nd amendment. When I get it I will come up with a contest or someway to get it moving to another blogger. I will sign it and then ship it!

Of Course it may be the last thing ever to make it out of Florida! If any of you Intelligent Bloggers can come up with a tracking map that we can use to monitor it's progress, let me know.

Update: I have been informed that the TOT is on its way! (Target On Tour). I alway thought a TOT was a little kid or was short for Turbo Outlet Temperature. That as opposed to TIT which is something TOT's gravitate to. Which I thought stood for Turbo Inlet Temperature which is a more accurate representation of exhaust temperature. If you have a Diesel it is much better to have TIT than TOT. I hope that helps.

Take Back the Corner 2

On a beautiful sunny day here in Tucson we gathered for Take Back the Corner 2. In front of the main gate of Davis-Monthan AFB our small but enthuisiastic group showed it support for our Troops.

The show of appreciation and support from the base and passer-bys ran about 999 to 1. A grumpy old man in a car said "Go Away". The other 999 were positive with shouts, waves, thumbs up, and honking. It was a very positive and moving way to thank those on the front lines of the War On Terror.

We will continue to "Take Back the Corner" and I will post about upcoming dates and times. In attendance were Dennis from Protest Warrior, Scott from Speed of Thought, and Mike from Flight Pundit all the way from Phoenix. A great start on an event we hope to grow in size and scope.

Business As Usual

Click on these three political cartoons from 1913:

You could change a few things and use them to describe the Hurricane Katrina aftermath. Not the death and destruction, the political fallout.

"In late March of 1913, an unusually heavy rainstorm moved into the Miami Valley region. By the third day of the downpour, levees were overtopped and many towns and farms suffered disastrous flooding. The city of Dayton was particularly hit hard. When the water receded the death toll stood at 361. In all, 65,000 were forced to leave their homes temporarily, and property damages ran to well over one million dollars. Following the flood, a vigorous movement for flood protection began in Dayton.

The story of the flood protection movement can be told through the political cartoons of the period. The following exhibit of cartoons is taken from the Miami Conservancy District Collection, MS 128, at the Special Collections and Archives at Wright State University.

These political cartoons were published in a variety of newspapers and journals throughout Ohio, including The Columbus Dispatch, The Columbus State Journal, and The Dayton News. "

Take Back the Corner 2

I am going to the local Air Force Base with THESE GUYS and THESE GUYS to picket in protest.

Saturday 9-17-05 on the NW corner of Craycroft and Golf Links at 8:00am sharp. Please bring your picket sign and American Flags. American flags! Thats right this is a PRO TROOP rally to support those who let you sleep in peace at night.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND! Do you say that you support the troops? Here is your chance to show it. Several other Tucson Bloggers will be there and I hope you can take some of your time to show your support for those who have dedicated all their time.

This is a wonderful opportunity for those who are a liberal or have a left leaning political persuasion to demonstrate your love of country and for those who defend your right to say and do those things you hold dear. I look forward meeting everyone who shares one common trait.......Love of Country.

Inspired by THIS post by Cowboy Blob, I offer the September Playmate of the month. The Winchester model 94 is one of the most widely recognized rifles in the world. It is said that more deer have been killed with this rifle than all others combined. It was the first mass produced rifle using a smokeless powder cartridge.

Few guns have the history and reputation that the Winchester lever action rifles have. Winchester 73 starring Jimmy Stewart typifies the prevailing attitude and magic this rifle had on those who sought to possess it. The ability to chamber pistol ammuntion made the rifle a practical and indispensible piece of frontier hardware.

For over one hundred years the Model 94 has maintained a popular following and is still made in 12 Different Models In 1873, Winchester introduced a new and improved version of the Henry rifle and subsequent versions have sold 720.000 copies in many styles and calibers.*

WWwinchesterposter.jpg73.bmp

Historical Timeline

Commerative Editions

More Good Info

* I declined to start this post with the original 1866 version of the Winchester lever action repeating rifles. From 1866 until 1873 about 16,000 were made with many design and quality flaws. They had a brass frame like the Henry's and did not really make their mark until the 1873 version made its debut. After that history speaks for itself.

Saddle Rings, Cowboy Blob aked me to explain the use of saddle rings. With a small piece of leather it could be used to secure a rifle in a saddle scabbard. That however is not what it originally designed for.

When the calvary started carrying carbines they used a sling like this:
sling02.jpg

To keep the rifle ready and available, it was worn over the shoulder and snap linked to the ring.

STATEMENT BY DEBORAH JOHNS:

Let’s Talk, Cindy Sheehan – Mom to Mom

(Dateline: Dallas, Texas) – Deborah Johns, the leader of Move America Forward’s “You Don’t Speak for Me, Cindy” Tour, today issued the following statement regarding the caravan of military families and their supporters that are heading to Crawford, Texas for a major pro-troop rally (“We Support Our Troops AND Their Mission”) on Saturday, August 27th.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

“As the proud mother of a U.S. Marine who has served two tours of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom, I have been saddened by the hurtful comments made by Cindy Sheehan in regards to the men and women of the United States military and our Commander in Chief.

For three weeks Cindy Sheehan has made inflammatory and untrue statements about the mission our troops have been serving. It was these non-stop attacks and hateful words that compelled me to take action. That is why I joined with Move America Forward to organize the “You Don’t Speak for Me, Cindy” Tour.

Cindy Sheehan doesn’t speak for me, nor does she speak for the overwhelming majority of military families. And from the calls and emails I have received during the past week, I can tell you that she does not speak for the vast majority of families who have had to endure the pain of losing a loved one in the war on terrorism.

Since she first arrived in Crawford, Texas, Cindy Sheehan has been demanding that she receive a second meeting with President Bush so that she may continue her political and personal attacks against him. Yet, she admits that she won’t listen to a thing he says.

Well I would like to talk to you, Cindy Sheehan.

I invite Cindy Sheehan to sit down and meet with me when I am in Crawford, Texas on Saturday, August 27th. We can talk one-on-one, in a respectful, private and sincere manner, one mother to another.

I would like Cindy Sheehan to justify how her effort to undermine our troops’ mission does anything but dishonor those men and women in harms way?

I would like to ask Cindy Sheehan why she emboldens the terrorists by calling our President a murderer and the ‘real terrorist?’

And I would like to invite Cindy Sheehan to honor the requests from the overwhelming majority of our troops who ask the American people to not waiver in their resolve to support the efforts our troops are serving in.

Cindy Sheehan: You’ve said you wanted to talk about these issues. I invite you to discuss them with me. It shouldn’t be too hard to find the caravan of military families I will be bringing to Crawford on Saturday.”

Did Ya Ever Wonder Why?

photo_rooney_interview.jpg

Did ya ever wonder why you can't remember the last time a liberal Democrat said anything good about America?

Did ya ever wonder why the three horses asses of the apocalypse, Nagin, Blanco, and Landrieu were so quick to blame GWB for not only for the federal response but the actual hurricane itself?

Did ya ever wonder why Leahy, Biden, and Kennedy all came to the Roberts gunfight armed with only their intellectual plastic spoons?

Did ya ever wonder why the left is corkscrewing into oblivion and continue to embrace the likes of Cindy Sheehan and Michael Newdow?

Did ya ever wonder why the liberal Democrats cannot possibly give credit to the EVIL corporations, the military, churchgoers, and all those racist white conservatives for doing the lionshare of the relief efforts in the aftermath of Katrina?

Did ya ever wonder why you cannot seem to very enthusiastic about the Hollywood celluloid pontificators movies without reliving their political inclinations anymore?

Did ya ever wonder why those from the liberal left berate God, the flag, the family, guns, patriotism, and moral values in the name of tolerance and diversity?

Did ya ever wonder why the Military is the first one called to aid and is the first one called on the carpet when the Democrats run out of solutions?

Did ya ever wonder why so many of America's current ailments are the cause of liberal militant enviromental policies of the last thirty years?

Did ya ever wonder there has been no practical solutions as to why we cannot meet our energy needs for the future in the absence of new refineries, nuclear power plants, domestic drilling, solar, and wind power coming from the left?

Did you ever wonder why Howard Dean seems to embody all that is right and just in the DNC to its members and all that is repungnant and wrong to those of us looking in?

Geography Lesson

How do you tell the difference between Liberals, Conservatives and Southerners?

Pose the following question:

You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children.
Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and charges.

You are carrying a Glock .40 and you are an expert shot.
You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family.

What do you do?

Liberal Answer:

Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!

Does the man look poor or oppressed?

Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?

Could we run away?

What does my wife think?

What about the kids?

Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand?

What does the law say about this situation?

Does the Glock have an appropriate safety built into it?

Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway - and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?

Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?

Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?

If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me?

Should I call 9-1-1?

Why is this street so deserted?

We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.

This is all so confusing!

I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus.

Conservative Answer:

BANG!

Southerner's Answer:

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

The Train they call the city of New Orleans

From LGF we get another example of the failure to communicate:

"Nagin did not tell everyone to leave immediately, because the regional plan called for the suburbs to empty out first, but he did urge residents in particularly low-lying areas to “start moving — right now, as a matter of fact.” He said the Superdome would be open as a shelter of last resort, but essentially he told tourists stranded in the Big Easy that they were out of luck.

“The only thing I can say to them is I hope they have a hotel room, and it’s a least on the third floor and up,” Nagin said. “Unfortunately, unless they can rent a car to get out of town, which I doubt they can at this point, they’re probably in the position of riding the storm out.”

In fact, while the last regularly scheduled train out of town had left a few hours earlier, Amtrak had decided to run a “dead-head” train that evening to move equipment out of the city. It was headed for high ground in Macomb, Miss., and it had room for several hundred passengers. “We offered the city the opportunity to take evacuees out of harm’s way,” said Amtrak spokesman Cliff Black. “The city declined.”

So the ghost train left New Orleans at 8:30 p.m., with no passengers on board."

18 Already?

Dear Son,

Happy eighteenth birthday! Congratulations on reaching this historic milestone in your life. It is with great pleasure and sadness that this day comes. The sadness is in the death of your childhood and the pleasure in the birth of your adulthood.

Through our years together I have witnessed a remarkable transformation from an infant to childhood and from a child into a beautiful young man. I hope that you cherish this day and remember that it is but a small step on your journey of life.

It seems like only a brief moment in time ago when I held you in my arms and witnessed a true miracle on earth. Your life and mine have forever been intertwined since that day. I entered a phase of manhood that I hope you can enjoy and appreciate as much as I did.

I can recall the time long ago that I stood in your place with the whole world spread about me like a giant playground. I can honestly say that I have few regrets in my chosen path and you are evidence of one of the best decisions I ever made.

Your mother and I have enjoyed a successful marriage in the sense that we took our hard times with determination and celebrated our success with satisfaction of a job well done. My greatest wish is that you find a partner as wonderful as your mother. If you can hold onto a friend as genuine as her you will truly be blessed.

We have not always seen eye to eye and this has grown more apparent with your maturity. I see this as a positive sign of your growing independence and self reliance. My job as your father is to prepare you for the world beyond your mother and I. In this regard I believe that you are on the right path.

I had hoped to only expose you to all the good traits that I inherited from my parents and shield you from the things that were detrimental. That was an impossible task that no man could possibly achieve . Please take those things in me that you find useful and fight those demons that I have genetically predisposed on you.

I want you to know that from this day forward we will be forever moving apart. This in and of itself does not need to be as ominous as it sounds. It is a natural transformation from the father-child relationship into father-son relationship.

The bonds of family will continue to bind our heritage and futures until I pass from this world. Your perception of me will change dramatically over time. Mine of you however will not. I have been in the place that you are headed. I have experienced the triumph and tragedy that the relentless march of time forces upon us. You will understand this when you have reached that time in your life when events bring reflection and clarity.

It is interesting place that we have arrived at. You at the beginning and me at a crossroad. I never could imagine a day that I would have a son of eighteen. In the blink of an eye it has arrived. Time has an interesting way of forever changing its cadence. There are times when it seems to drag on at a snails pace and then accelerate to the speed of light.

I know that at times I have been both demanding and hard, please understand that parenthood comes with no manual or recipe. I think that we have raised a child that has successfully made the transition into adulthood in spite of our failures and shortcomings. This is a lesson that only you as a parent will understand.

Last but not least I want you to understand the most important part of this letter. Your mother and I love you very much and will be there to help you through the continuing phases of your life. We will be the port in your storms, the laughter in good times, and the shoulder in bad. As long you will allow we will always be your mother and father in whatever capacity you require.

I do not make that offer lightly, it is with the understanding and knowledge that we have done our very best to make you the outstanding young man that you are. I can say without reservation that we will enjoy watching your future unfold in front of you with all the promise and prosperity that you rightfully deserve.

I believe in you.

Love, Dad

The Pirates of New Orleans

pirates_450.jpg

Smug and I came up with this little way to express our appreciation for the kindness and spirit of cooperation the Moonbats have demonstrated in this hour of need.

Originally I was going to suggest they pump New Orleans out and fix the levees. Then pump the water back in, sell the whole place to Disney and put in some boats. Keep the local villians, buccaneers, looters, and recalcitrants on the payroll to add that Spanish Main feel. It would cost a hell of alot less the 200 G's per person err........evacuee, refugee, displaced citizen. And if it floods again it just adds to the ride excitement. To rebuild New Orlean again without significant changes to the physical landscape typifies the idiocy of government spending.

The Last Word

I have grown weary of the Katrina finger pointing circle jerk. It appears that the Gov. suffered a form of paralysis, the Mayor was overwhelmed and underprepared. The feds reacted with caution and probably were a little slow to mobilize.

That being said I think we need to realize that if you live on the coast and below sea level you are going to get spanked sooner or later. If you live in Kansas the chances your house will be damaged or destroyed by a tornado are fairly good in a forty year period. If I live in California then I can take my pick of earthquakes, brushfires, mudslides, or O.J.. Even in the West we have our share of things that will kill you if your domicile is poorly located.

The point is WHY IS ANYONE SHOCKED that New Orleans is a turd filled toilet now? They have been warning, predicting, and expecting doomsday for fifty years. They had an emergency plan and did not implement it.

I personally loved the place and was hoping to return there soon. Not gonna happen now. Louisiana and New Orleans in particular has been a den of corruption and graft for a century. The fact that the state and the city are both run by democrats is lost on the blame GWB crowd. In times of emergency it is the Governor that needs to take the reigns and not wait for the President.

The residents were recently told that if a Cat 3 or bigger hurricane hit and they chose to stay, they were on their own. Well Mother Nature finally threw a strike down the Gulf of Mexico bowling alley. It is easy to Monday-after-the-Hurricane quarterback, but it really comes down to the sheer magnitude of the devastation. Can you really prepare for this to everyone's satisfaction? I think not.

I cannot watch the camera whore celebrities anymore and I think the MSM is already beating this to death with the antics of Herdildo Rivera and the rest of the drama queens. I am already reduced to Turner Classic Movies and don't go to the theater anymore because of the nauseating drivel from Actors turned Experts on every concievable event and catastrophy.

I will send some more of my hard earned money to help and when we get some refugees here I will see what I can do to ease their suffering. That is what we Americans do, and we do it better that the rest of this miserable planet. I must confess that when I see cops looting and the lowest forms of mans inhumanity to man taking place in our own back yard I have my doubts about the future of the Republic.

So Just shut up, roll up you sleaves, and get back to living. Let us bury the dead with honor and dignity. Save what can be saved, build again what was lost, and show the world why we still are the best mankind has to offer. NO ONE can match our resolve or compassion in times of despair. We see the worst of the worst on TV, we rarely get the chance to see the heroes. They are too busy.

Update: Frontier Style Homeland Defense

"They have M-16s and they're locked and loaded," Gov. Kathleen Blanco said of 300 National Guard troops who landed in New Orleans fresh from duty in Iraq. "These troops know how to shoot and kill, and they are more than willing to do so, and I expect they will."
