Thank You

Thank you to Brownie Troop 1062 and Junior Troop 1305 for the Girl Scout cookies. These young ladies raised the money and purchased 200 boxes of cookies to send to the troops. I shipped several large boxes of assorted cookies to Central and Northern Iraq yesterday along with their hand written Thank you cards. Maybe there is hope for this country after all.

Well Said

Americaphobia: Final Thoughts

Dean

"I have not yet had a chance to read Ali's latest, or really anything else on the Dean's World front page today. I've been too busy. But I've had all day to think about this and I'm going to lay out something I've been thinking for a long time:

It's very hard for me to look at American Muslims, or Muslims in general, or anyone who considers themselves "liberal" or "progressive" or "humanist," who claim to stand for freedom and human rights and then attack everything America has done and tried to do in Iraq over the last four years.

The fact is that the naysayers claimed we weren't really striving for liberation. We were. They claimed we'd install a new puppet dictator. We did not. They claimed that we wouldn't really try to set up a democracy. We did. They claimed there would be no legitimate elections. The Iraqis had three national elections in a row, all certified as legitimate by international observers, not even counting the local elections that were held before that.

They claimed we'd do everything possible to get out of the country "before the next elections"--they claimed that before the 2004 elections and again before the 2006 elections. It didn't happen. Now these same people in many cases are cheering for a Congress that's trying to force us out of Iraq even though the war supporters consistently say "no, that would be morally and strategically wrong."

Time after time the naysayers have proven themselves both morally and intellectually incoherent, and yet they never have the introspection to acknowledge this.

Furthermore, anyone calling himself a "liberal" or a "humanist"--Muslim or not--is in my view faced with a stark choice:

You either sit around pretending that a vicious, murderous, fascist "insurgency" that routinely cuts people's heads off and shoots children in the face is the "legitimate voice of the Iraqi people," or you recognize that there is in Iraq a government elected by the Iraqi people working under a Constitution written entirely by Iraqis that recognizes human rights better than any in the Arab world.

No matter how many reservations you have about how it was done or how imperfectly that elected government implements the ideals expressed in that ratified Constitution.

If you take the former position you have no business calling yourself a liberal or a progressive or a humanist. If you take the latter position, then maybe you have to swallow the bitter pill that someone named George Bush, whom you don't like and maybe think is incompetent, was the instigator of something that damn well needs to be supported.

But you can't have it both ways. Indeed, by declaring the whole thing illegitimate, all you're doing is siding with the Islamophobes of the world who claim the Muslims and the Arabs are far too savage, backward, and primitive to respect things like democracy and human rights. Indeed, you're implicitly siding the the Jihadwatch crowd.

It's high time someone told you people this, whether you're Muslims or not.

The progressive, humanist position is not, and never has been, the "anti-war" position."

The March of Folly

I am reading historian Barbara Tuchman's March of Folly again. I guess it has to do with the behavior of our Democrat party. The book is a narrative explaining many examples of leaders and governments acting in ways clearly against their best interest. I have read this book several times and consider it one of her best.

When discussing the British behavoir leading up to the Revolutionary War, I came across this:

"The American problem, even while it grew progressively more acute, was never except during a brief turmoil over the Stamp Act, a primary concern of British politics until the actual outbreak of hostilities. The all-pervading, all-important problem that absorbed major attention was the game of faction, the obtaining of office, the manipulating of connections, the making and breaking of political alliances-in sum, the business, more urgent, more vital, more passionate than any other, of who's in, who's out."

The democrat party does not give a damn how much damage they do as long it perpetuates their quest for power.

Cry Wolf

My neighbor from Elk Springs, New Mexico sent me this article Howling Mad about the Mexican gray wolves and their destruction of livestock and wild game in rural New Mexico. It seems no matter how far out in the middle of nowhere you go, the long arm of the goverment is there to implement their idea of "what is best for you". Of course the Birkenstock clad Lawyers are first on the scene to make sure the Eco-terrorist get their way.

Readers of this blog will remember several years ago This Post about the US forest service burning the healthy forest down around Elk Mountain to save it. In their infinite wisdom it is cheaper to burn it than defend it.

Anyway what many of you may not realize is government employed wolves view livestock and wild game as fast food. They simply refuse to live on acorns and bunnies. One of their favorite snacks seems to be Elk. Here in lies the conundrum, ranching provides 50% of all tax revenue to these rural counties and the money generated by outdoor sportsman a large chunk of the rest. It appears that the wolves are consuming the tax base. The most economically viable resource, logging was wiped out by our friend the infamous Spotted Owl. Originally a rancher could submit evidence of wolf killed livestock to be re-embursed, now they must have video tape evidence! Imagine how difficult it is to get the wolf to sign a consent form.

Another fine example of feel good politics ending up a lose-lose situation for the taxpayers.

Mexican Lottery

"The way to win the lottery is to take off and refuse to obey the lawful authority in the United States," he said. "The illegal aliens know that if they can scrutinize the acts of the law enforcement officer, there's a decent chance the police may end up going to prison, while the illegal aliens end up with one good lawsuit."

Confrontation

Just got back from the Gathering of Eagles rally and we really had a great turnout. The Anti-American Commie Pinkos were not happy to see a large contingent of pro American supporters already in place when they showed up.
We occupied all four corners before the bottom feeding lowlifes showed up. Not to send a mixed message we relinquished one corner to the unwashed hippie wannabes.

Later they sent a couple of jumpsuit wearing red diaper doper babies over to try and start a fight. We outnumbered them and after a very unfriendly reception they left with a police escort. A great day and a great way to keep the Anti-American defeat and retreat crowd on their heals.

Gathering of Eagles

4gnpc7d.jpg

I'll be there! Come and join us

You're invited to the Gathering of Eagles - Tucson at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Craycroft and Golf Links Gate or Swan Gate on Saturday 03/17/2007 10:00 am to 1:00 PM. Please send this on to all your patriotic friends in the area and military family members as well as veteran groups.
We're going to defeat them again! Last year in Tucson on March 18th for this annual "anti-war" event, 100 patriotic Tucsonans occupied the Military Recruiting Center on Speedway to stop a local march of 2000 protesters (with participants bused in from as far as Mexico) from vandalizing it. Instead of rampaging through the Center as they had planned they were forced to go across the street and stand there looking crazy. The Tucson Police Department Bicycle Squad kept a watchful eye out and there was no trouble.

This January in Washington DC, Jane Fonda jumped back in to the "anti-war" business in a big way. At the same rally, protesters spray-painted the Capital building after Capital Police were ordered to let them do it, even though the officers had them under control. The next rally on March 17th was scheduled to be near the Vietnam War Memorial! Concerned about this and other reports of war memorial desecrations, veterans started the Gathering of Eagles http://www.gatheringofeagles.org to protect the Wall. The Gathering has mushroomed into a gigantic rally to support the troops!

Here in Tucson, the "anti-war" faction, organized by the Arizona District Leader for Communist Party USA, has made a new plan. Stung by last year's stunning defeat, their current scheme is to protest the brave men and women of the US Armed Forces at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. They plan to meet at the Craycroft and Golf Links gate on Saturday, March 17th to picket, give a few propaganda speeches and march over to the Swan and Golf Links gate to picket there for awhile. If they follow their usual Modus Operandi, the "anti-war" radicals will vandalize the sidewalks in front of the military installation.

Why protest a military base, recruiting center or hospital? The military doesn't make foreign policy. The answer is that while some in the crowd may want peace and just don't know what they're doing, the leaders are attempting to demoralize our troops and our country to the point of surrender, as Jane Fonda and her friends did in the Vietnam war. Our military won every battle there but lost the "protest war" at home. Brave and victorious Vietnam Veterans came back to be spit on at airports and other travel stations! Will we let this happen again? No!

The Gathering of Eagles - Tucson will meet across the street from this protest and stand peacefully holding signs of troop support and military/American flags. As soon as the protesters move away from any area we will immediately inspect and scrub off sidewalk vandalization. Yes, we will be earlier and stay later than the radicals. Our troops work long hours for us every day under harsh conditions! But even if you can only stay briefly on your way to the Air Show that day it will be appreciated.

Come early if you would like to help set up and volunteer to help in other ways. Bring a case of water if you can. Also bring a flag or sign of support such as "God Bless Our Troops!" or "Home of the Free Because of the Brave." Be creative. Our troops have heard of the Gathering of Eagles and are watching closely. So are politicians. Even the terrorists wonder if this will hurt their cause. Let's show them that American citizens care by standing up for the troops and America! See you there!

Xenophobic Norwegian Homosexual

"This blog sucks. You're a faggot. Don't like Mexicans? Move to Norway, bitch."
Posted by Paco at March 11, 2007 12:12 PM

This was in response to THIS post. Paco, I have been called many things in my day, but this is really creative. I will post on this in detail later.

My dear friend Paco,

What I find interesting is I was referring to a L. A. Times article, not exactly a source close to my own political preferences. Your opinion that the Blog sucks is just that, your opinion and you are entitled to it. That is if you live here in the USA, you may not have that much freedom south of the border.

I do not think you have much evidence of my homosexual tendencies, I have been happily married to the same women for twenty three years and we have two terrific children to show for our efforts. If your Machismo heritage compels you use the term faggot, I might again point out the fact that here in the good old USA we are far more tolerant of that lifestyle than the country of your origin. I am not homosexual or homophobic, but I am anti-gay rights. I firmly believe it is a lifestyle choice and that does not entitle you to special treatment under the law.

I live in Tucson Arizona, and have been here for almost 40 years. If I did not like Mexicans I would have left this state many years ago. With a rich Spanish heritage and a population approaching 40% Hispanic, this is not a healthy environment for that type of prejudice. I have many what you call Mexican friends, business associates, and acquaintances. It would be impossible to live here without daily contact with them. My daughter has been dating a fine young man for two years of Hispanic descent, and I would place money that my son will get engaged and marry the beautiful love of his life that is also one of those Mexicans you say that I hate. Doesn't quite fit the profile does it?

Norway? I am 12th generation American on my fathers side from England, his ancestors settled in Braintree, Mass around 1620. On my mothers side I am fourth generation American whose roots are in Poland. This makes me an American without the hyphens, never felt I needed them. I love the fact that this country was the melting pot from around the world. A place to dream about and come to to make those dreams come true. I am strongly pro-immigration, LEGAL immigration. What I see today brings tears to my eyes and is a disgrace to all those who came through the front door. The physical destruction along the border is only the beginning. These new immigrants or illegal aliens pour over the border with a sense of entitlement and lack of any pretense to assimilate into American culture. They demand we accommodate their every wish and chose to import the culture of their homeland. If we question this, we are immediately branded racist and have a Mexican flag shoved in our face.

The rub for many of us is that while we must accept this wave of immigrants unconditionally, we would never be allowed to behave this way in the Country that they show so much pride in. We Americans have virtually no rights south of the border if they so chose. I know firsthand as I have traveled down south for many years. So Paco, I do loathe those who sneak over the border, just like all the other criminals in society. They take away from my quality of life and have not worked to legally access the greatest country on earth. When they do, I will embrace them with open arms, bitch.

Enemy Of The State, Janet

Hundreds urged Napolitano to sign self-defense bill she vetoed
By Paul Davenport
Associated Press
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 03.06.2007

"Gov. Janet Napolitano sided with prosecutors in vetoing a bill to make a self-defense law retroactive, even though many gun-right supporters were among hundreds of Arizonans urging her to decide otherwise, according to documents released Tuesday.
Napolitano on Friday vetoed a bill intended to help Harold Arthur Fish, a hiker convicted in an eastern Arizona trailside shooting, and others who claimed self-defense."

The rest is HERE. Just once I wish our Governor would extend the concern she has for illegal aliens to American citizens. If it has anything to do with empowering individuals or may be pro-gun, forget it. The democrat party wants to do "Whats best for you". Dial 911 and wait for them to show up.
