The More Things Change.....

The more they stay the same.

In the last week of one of the worst election cyles I have ever witnessed, I bring your this quote from John Adams about the arrogance of politicans:

"The longer I live and the more I see of public men, the more I wish to be a private one. Modesty is a virtue that can never thrive in public. Modest merit! Is there such a thing remaining in public life? It is now become a maxim with some, who are even men of merit, that the world esteems a man in proportion as he esteems himself.....I am often astonished at the boldness with which persons make their pretensions. A man must be his own trumpeter, he must write or dictate paragraphs of praise in the newspapers: he must dress, have a retinue and equipage: he must ostentatiously publish to the world his own writing in his own name....he must get his picture drawn, his statue made, and must hire all the artists in his turn to set about works to spread his name, make the mob stare and gape and perpetuate his fame."

Written in 1779, long before the likes of Clinton or Kerry or any of the other assorted arrogant politicans from both sides of the aisle. It clearly demonstrates that we have not really gotten very far in all these years. How I loathe those who make this public prostitution their calling.

Welcome to Arizona 2006, full of eco-wienies, tree huggers, vegans and vagatarians (lesbians) and all the others that moved here from the states they already ruined.

If it sounds too stupid to be true, cost more money, or is going to make buying things that taste good and will shorten my life more difficult to obtain........Vote NO!

Music from Down Under

Reason #613 why I love the Aussies

Beccy Cole, an Australian who sings country music wrote it and sings it.

“Poster Girl” was written when Beccy returned from entertaining the troops in the Middle East over the Christmas and New Year period and found a letter from a fan who didn’t agree with Australia’s participation in the war. Beccy has previously commented. “I have a huge amount of respect for our forces and I’m very proud of the great job they are doing over there. Our job was to provide an entertaining break from their gruelling routine and from all reports, we succeeded. I’m happy to report that morale is high amongst the Aussies and if their hard work and commitment is anything to go by, peace in the Middle East is achievable”

Who Said This?

Government is nothing more than the combined force of society, or the united power of the multitude, for the peace, order, safety, good and the happiness of the people...There is no king or queen bee distinguished from all the others, by size or figure or beauty and variety of colors, in the human hive. no man has yet produced any revelation from heaven in his favor, any divine communication to govern his fellow men. Nature throws us all into the world equal and alike.......

The preservation of liberty depends upon the intellectual and moral character of the people. as long as knowledge and virtue are diffused generally among the body of a nation, it is impossible they should be enslaved......

Ambition is one of the more ungovernable passions of the human heart. The love of power is insatiable and uncontrollable........

There is danger from all men. the only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty.

In the spirit of my friend Gindy who used to offer quotes to discuss, the answer is in the comment section.

Buy America Build America

While some of you may chuckle at the recent woes of American automakers like This news about Ford, remember they built the Arsenal of Democracy that saved the world. I own two Ford trucks and one Chevy truck, I try to practice what I preach. I do not like nor have I ever belonged to a labor union. I believe that they are the main reason American companies and industries are in such terrible shape. But I still prescribe to Buy America, Build America. It may not be the only ass you save if you do............

Five Weeks

It has been five weeks since my son left for boot camp, I received a great letter from him today. He is well as things are getting a little easier and he was promoted to E-2 on Tuesday. He had met all of the qualifications during DEP and passed his PQS test in his first week. He is a section leader with twelve recruits under him and they are doing very well. Home sick but happy, I am looking forward to his graduation in three weeks. Cold and windy Chicago is quite the change from warm and sunny Arizona.

North Korean Solution

Wanna fix it once and for all? Six years of negotiations and twelve years of pandering to a tin horn dictator have gotten us nowhere. Clinton and Albright gave him the tools, now it is time to get them back. Tell the Chi-Coms they have until 11-01-06 to get their boy under control or we will reduce Chinese imports into the United States by 25%. The North Koreans must be nuke free by January first or we will reduce the imports by another 25%. It is the ONLY leverage we have. The UN is useless and we have no viable military solution.

This is all about the Chinese anyway.................
