Concealed Carry Weapons Permit

I completed the Arizona CCW course yesterday at the Marksman Pistol Institute. An informative eight hour course, long over due on my part. I recommend it to anyone who regularly packs heat. (I do) I did the course because I believe in being part of the solution. Every where in America where CCW permits are being issued crime is on the decline.

I also puchased an Springfield XD .45 on Saturday just because. (Cowboy Blob will groan I'm sure) I did a great deal of research on this and chose it over the Glocks, Sigs, S&W, and the H&K. I shot it during the lunchbreak of the CCW course and like it so far. I am not a fan of polymer guns but the two 1911's I have get heavy after awhile.

Yeah, I've really got to get my CCW.

Kevin, I would really appreciate your thoughts on this, I was hesitant to get it because I feel like many others that is was not a necessary intrusion on my private rights. Kinda showing my cards type of thing. However, I travel between here and New Mexico a great deal and I am always armed. I still have mixed feeling on this but feel better that I did it for no other reason is now I have all the facts behind what it can and cannot do to protect me an mine.

Congrats on the CCW and the Springfield! I'm only groaning with pleasure!

Welcome to concealed carry. Shame that most of us do have to jump through hoops in order to exercise our rights, but just remember that two decades ago it would have been impossible to do so and I look at it all as regaining the Constitution one small step at a time. Being former military and living in Florida meant all I had to do was submit the necessary forms then wait a week, door to door, for the license to appear in the mail, and admittedly even that was irksome, but at the end of the day, necessary. CCW permits the country over are growing by leaps and bounds and there is strength in numbers.

This should remain on a congratulatory note, so I won't comment upon the Springer. :)

Fits, first thanks for coming by and second, I know there are many polymers that have proven themselves with the test of time. I have a SA 1911a1 that is still my favorite gun to shoot. I like the XD and the value factor doesn't hurt. Time will tell if it stays in my shooting rotation or becomes a safe queen.

There's always compromises to be made for the ideal concealed carry firearm, and 13+1 in .45 is *nothing* to sneeze at.

BB, Good to hear you finally did this, I did mine just after I first met you and the rest from Tucson. I have heard great things about the XD from people that are very critical about the weapons they carry. I hope you like it long term.
As for finally getting this CCW, it is about time.
