I've still a bit more to find out about him, but so far...

You can probably add my left-winged moonbat endorsement to the the list.

There isn't a single Supreme Court Justice that I've agreed with 100%, and Roberts seems to be a decent, honorable man.

(Even if he is gay! Yuck, yuck!)

Cary, Obviously the gay endorsement is a tongue-in-cheek rebuttal to all those who are beside themselves to find dirt on a man who is imminently qualified. I really would not care if he was with his credentials. He did some work for a gay rights group many moons ago on a case that went before the Supreme court. It is a sad state of affairs that the left is opposing him for no other reason than to make life difficult for GWB. They are looking childish and petty. If they are not careful they will use up what credibility they have left and will not have the clout to oppose a more controversial nominee in the future.

From my perspective, it seems that Conservative opposition seems to be greater, or at least equal to that from the Left.

It's the job of Congress to ask certain questions. However, his stances on the "political issues of the day" are, in my opinion, not relevant. Supreme Court judges are granted open ended terms with the intention of sheilding them from politics. They should not be subject to the same kind of trial that Senators, Congressmen, and presidential candiates are. Rather they should be "judged" on their legal philosophies, with which Roberts seems to pass on with flying colors.

Those on the Left who oppose him do so because they distrust anything that GWB does.

Those on the Right who oppose him do so because he is unlikely to advocate overturning any SC decisions made in the past.

In the end, I doubt that we will see any great problems in seeing him confirmed.
